Born: Easton, Maryland, December 24, 1964 Kathleen Smith was born in Easton, Maryland, in 1964. She graduated from Colonel Richardson High School, in Federalsburg, Maryland, in 1982. She then graduated Cum Laude from Mary Washington College in Frederiksburg, Virginia, in 1986, and graduated from University of Maryland School of Law in Balimore, Maryland in 1989. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1989. She first served as Clerk to the Honorable Dale R. Cathell (Ret.), while he was a member of the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland, before beginning in the private practice of law. Wishing to focus on criminal and juvenile law, she joined the Office of the Public Defender in 1999. In 2001, she became a prosecutor and attained the rank of Deputy State's Attorney. In 2008, she left the public sector and began this practice known as Law Offices of Kathleen E. Smith, L.L.C. Ms. Smith is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association (Past President), the Maryland State Bar Association, the Maryland Womens Bar Association (Eastern Shore Chapter). Ms Smith is an avid horsewoman, who enjoys introducing young people to the world of horses. She also enjoys fishing and camping on Assateague Island with her family, and travelling to West Virginia to camp and trail ride in the mountains. |
